The chapel of San Vicente was built in the year 1725 in the place where, according to local legend, the saint predicted it would be.
C/ San Vicente is a street with a strong personality and architectural harmony.
It is possible that the old Roman road that linked up the towns of Xàtiva and Dénia passed through this street. The ‘mother canal’, which was used to transport water to the old sugar mill, is buried beneath one of its pavements.
C/ San Vicente is Oliva’s oldest through road, and its residents maintain the tradition of the popular festival in homage to the saint every year. |
