The Olimpia theatre - located in what was originally the house where Gregorio Mayans i Síscar was born, as the heraldic shield on the façade reminds us – houses a monographic exhibition dedicated to the memory of the great actor Vicente Parra on the first floor. Via posters for his films, abundant graphic documentation covering his artistic career and the prizes he received throughout it, you can take a complete tour of the actor’s journey as an artist and as a person – a journey that symbolises, like few others do, a complete and defined period in the history of Spanish cinema and theatre.
The exhibition - recently enriched with artwork from private collections formed by paintings acquired from or donated by artists like Salve, Asdrúbal and Coronado, and from celebrity figures like the Duchess of Alba and actress Nati Mistral – has been extended by way of an extensive repertoire of images from the specialist press, which reflect the start of his career, the spread of his reputation as an actor in communication media, his dedication, the rise of his fame and his period of artistic maturity. A film about the figure and the work of Vicente Parra completes an exhibition that has been created in part by family legacies and via which Oliva, Parra’s native town, pays permanent homage to him. |
