Located at the peak of the Santa Ana mountain, the castle is found next to the remains of a military fortress and the chapel of the same name. It has a rectangular base with two towers situated in the north-east and south-west corners.
Its position dominated the town centre and the Raval neighbourhood, complementing the defence mechanisms of the former. In all probability, it was a fortress constructed during the years in which the town expanded in size and was given a new walled perimeter, in approximately the mid-16th century.
